What's it on? A Z6? If so just keep the stock manifold. All a Y8 manifold does is shift the powerband up higher in the RPM range and lean out cylinder 3.

well my stock z6 ej1 beat a ej8 with a skunk2 mani,header,skunk2 catback.
He was told by friends that y8 mani's are the best out of the d series. And yes its a
z6 motor my i just want more hp and torq in the upper gears, I just orderd a srs catback. I need a cold air intake n some other bolt ons just wondering whats the good way to go.

Honestly none of that stuff really gives you any power. Maybe 15whp with I/H/E. Which your not truly gonna feel, you just hear it and think your way faster when your not lol. But the y8 mani is better, and unless you plan on building the motors internals or boosting a p&p job on a intake mani will just be a waste of time and money.

Real numbers are probably more like 5 - 7hp. You will actually lose power with a short ram on the low end.

See my post above, Y8 manifolds on a Z6 suck, they just move power from the low end (which is already lacking) and move it to the high end of the RPM range. As well as leaning out cylinder 3. The only benefit I can think of is you can bore out a Y8 IM to run a larger throttle body.

This is one of several ancient myths that I wish would just die.

As well as leaning out cylinder 3. QUOTE

...how does it lean out cylinder 3.. so what does a skunk 2 intake mani do i used to have one on a boosted y8 n it says it gives 10% hp gain.. so i mean with an injen intake thats more than 5 or 6 hp def with a header..

those 10% power gains are just claims to sell the product....like stated before your will only gain 5-8 hp with I/E/H. your best bet is to save up and piece together a turbo kit for a few hundred.

unless your boosting the sohc, a intake manifold and throttle body will actually make you lose 3-5hp on mid range power and gain 1 hp on high end. worthless

edit: you need to tune it. if i recall a 95 civic si with skunk 2 cam, I,H,E,mani and TB TUNED made only like 27 hp over stock. this was an article in import tuner this past summer if i recall correctly

I just checked Skunk2's website, they actually claim 8% not 10. That comes out to 10.16hp. Don't always believe the numbers. You can be sure those are all based on a car that's been dyno tuned with that IM, but here's the thing, put a car on the dyno with no mods whatsoever, right down to the OEM paper aircleaner element and guess what? You'll pick up a few hp, do it with an IM (or anything really) and it inflates the numbers) I've never really looked into these IMs before and as such never ran one, but looking at it, it looks like a cross between a Z6 and Y8, long runners like a Z6, but bigger plenum like a Y8.
