Default comptech lip vs. oem itr lip

any pros or cons between the 2. I'm buying one, and leaning more towards the oem lip, but then again the comptech lip is much cheaper. Can anyone tell me the benefits i would get from getting the oem lip and/or are there any downfalls of the comptech?

The Comptech lip is made by Wings West and is urethane. I don't think it has the mounting points underneath the bumper, Wings West likes to mount their parts with sticky tape.

edit: I'm not sure if they included the holes for the screws on the sides or not.

I've got the factory 97 ITR lip on my JDM conversion for over a year now. It will take anything.

comptech lip is more flexible since its a rubbery urethane. its mounting is crappy though since its held up only by double sided tape and like 2 self tapping screws in the wheel wells. It fits just as well as the OEM ITR lip

the OEM ITR lip is ABS plastic and has brackets on it to mount it to the bumper with bolts and screws in the wheelwells. the mounting is very solid and it can take a lot of abuse too but it also scrapes up easier and if something hit it dead on real hard i dont think it'd handle it as well as the comptech one.

ive had both and I favor the OEM one just cause I liked the way it mounted much better.

You can easily make some brackets to hold it on the bottom like the oem lip though. I would do that instead of double sided tape.

thats not really feasible. have you ever seen the two side by side? theres not a efficient way to put brackets on the comptech one.

I put on my WW kit on my gsr a while back with double sided tape and screws. I also used the suggested 3M adhesive promoter. All i can say is that the 3M adhesive promoter with the double sided tape was all i needed. The tape by itself is nothing. But if you add the adhesive promoter the thing becomes near impossible to remove once applied. I seriously didn't need the screws at all. Contact Wings West and ask where to get some. I couldn't find it in Home Depot or places like that. I had to order it from some warehouse type deal in NC. HTH

I used some.....just the bolts is a better way to mount it anyways because then if you so choose you can take it off plus it mounts just a lot more sturdy. I've had both.
