Icon2 Guage Cluster Issue

Hi everyone. I have a 95' Integra 5-speed. I have done endless research on my issue. My speedometer intermittently goes crazy or it won't work at all. Same with my odometer.. it will either work, or it wont work at all (i don't know if its even accurate when it decides to work).

-I tried 3 different speed sensors (2 were brand new and OEM)

-I tried 2 different clusters (both were definitely in working order)

-I checked and cleaned all the grounds for the engine, chassis, computer.

-I pulled the speed sensor gear out of the transmission to make sure the teeth weren't stripped or anything..everything looked fine.

-I check the pins on the speed sensor connector and none are bent, corroted, pulled out, etc..(same with behind the gauge cluster)

-I tried 2 different ecu's

-I even changed #15 fuse under the dash...even though it wasn't blown..

STILL SPEEDOMETER IS INOPERABLE!

My next step would be to check the wiring from the speed sensor to the gauge cluster and EVERYTHING in between! (for this i will need a diagram that ill have to source)

Has anyone had a similar issue that can point me in some direction because this is extremely frustrating..

Thanks in advance Honda-Tech

On my old 95 civic that happened recently after I bought it, By speed censor do you mean the clip from the wiring harness to the tranny?
As soon as I pulled that I could see it was corroded badly. Ran down to pull-a-part cut one and spliced it and it worked like new...

Hopefully that's you're problem?

thanks for your response man...

I visually inspected that connector and it looked fine, it was clean, no corrosion, no bent pins. I have another wiring harness ill steal the connector from and try it anyway.

Thanks!

I would definitely try it mine I wouldn't have been able to notice unless I put a flashlight in it and saw a bit of water sitting at the bottom. Don't know how gravity didn't take care of that but who knows how a lot of things happen lol good luck

I've had a similar issue for the last couple years. Haven't figured it out yet. But haven't been actively trying to. I to changed speed sensors to no avail.

Worth noting, tach works fine, but since speedo isn't working trip and odometer won't work. Many times I get a few miles per tank, but it's all guess work for how many miles I've truly gone.

If anyone has solved this problem. I'd truly be greatful for info on how you were able to fix it.

Like i said I had the same problem and I just changed the plug from the harness to the tranny. I honestly don't know the correct name. But mine cleared up. It was doing what ya'll have said. would work then wouldn't odometer would stop with it, then one day it just stopped.

changed that plug and she was good as gold.

try this, sounds wierd but it can't hurt to try, try swapping out distributors, i had an issue with my rpms once and it was the ignitor i believe, but the easy way to check is to just swap one out real quick
