V-TECH should kick in when you dial the last digit in the number you're calling.

The stock H22 VTEC crossover is listed on multiple sites as 5200rpm.

I hope that's what you're asking for.

As far as whether you have an SH or a base, if its not marked as an SH, it's probably a base, which is actually better for modding.

You don't just happen to buy an SH and not know it, unless its been stripped of the ATTS and the previous owner doesn't want to mention it.

it feels like the v-tech doesnt kick in till like 7000, maybe something is wrong with it, and on somedays it runs really muffled kind of like it wants to stall or the air flow is clogged or something, its weird one day its torqy as hell and others it not...?

Welcome to the forum! Its always nice to have new members. A little lesson in etiquette so you won't get treated like an ***-hat ...

When you come into a forum
First, Introduce yourself and your car
Second, spend some time of your own time researching online, Google, Yahoo, Bing whatever tickles you, so that you are at least minimally knowledgeable in the subject you are posing a question about
Third, Just about EVERY forum has an FAQ thread right at the top, READ THROUGH IT, most automotive problems have been solved before

Lastly, learn from your mistakes, every post here has attempted to correct your use of the phrase "V-TECH", yet you seem unwilling to learn. If we extrapolate from your failure to correct yourself, your ability to learn, we have no faith we can help you, thus, you get treated like an ***-hat ...

Here is some spoon feeding, start reading here

lol

It's funny I've seen a lot of threads about this but I'm not sure if it's the same as a gsr which vtec kicks in at 4400 but the secondaries open up around 5600 or 5800, can't remember which one.

I know my secondaries open up at 5400 rpm or so 'cause you can hear its, it's awesome, but I'm not sure if vtec kicks in before that like a gsr.

Secondaries generally open first, then the cam profiles are switched I believe.

You got it the other way, First your secondaries open then Vtec at 5200.

That's weird that most are saying an h22a vtec kicks at 5200 mine opens at 5500.

VTEC crossover is different on every motor, I could even see two H22s behaving differently with the same ECU because there are a couple of variables that effect when it will engage the VTEC rockers.

I think the base VTEC crossover for an H22 is 5200, I have a D15Z1 [VTEC-E] that the base crossover is like 2500rpms. B, D, F, H, K series, they're all different, and the crossovers are even different from B16 to B18, D15 to D16, etc.

H22 type sh has vtec at 5000 rpms i know my cousin has one no ship or nothing stock and the secondarys open at 4500. They usually kick in early for torque purposes. Gsr's kick in at 5500 and b16 type r at 6k. D16z6 at 5200 and so on.

GSRs are backwards from H22. GSR VTEC at 4400 secondaries at 5600. That's why most people get tuned and raise VTEC engagement to 5800 or so when they change the intake out.

No they kick in "early" because they only rev to 7500. instead of 9000000 like a damn civic.

also i have a stock jdm h22 in my 4th gen and its 5200...

Mine is 6000...but my power doesn't drop till right after 6100 without it... Smoothest transition I've ever felt. Then again, my H22 isn't stock.
