I have a 94 del sol vtec with the b16a3 I noticed recently with the cold weather it idles a bit higher...but now it's also at times idling up and down between 1rpm and 1300rpm only when I have my headlights on , If I turn them off it will idle normal, any one been through this before?

 

Just guessing sounds like your atl is getting weaking and when its under a load bogs the engine down the ecm trys to idle it up or a ground problem

 

maybe a short somewhere

Yes, is it original?

I would load test your battery and alternator.

Or just get a multimeter, turn on the car to position 2, take the probes on the meter, to the negative and positive terminal on your battery, get the voltage should be like 12 volts (car not on)

Turn on the car all accessories off, do they same get voltage write it down.

Turn on the HID's get voltage again record it and see if it drops, then post it here.

The car completely off read 12v
The car on position 2. Read 12v
The car on all acc. Off. Read 14v
The car on with hid on read 14v

This was on a semi cold start I tested it about 2hrs after I drove it for 40miles

 

Your numbers look good.

How old are your ignition wires?

I would test them with an ohm meter (the meter you tested the volts, should have an ohm setting)

 

Those are brand new (a week old) so are the plugs..... Wire are 7mm oem kragen replacements and plugs are ngk's
