Anybody running an Under-LCA style exhaust in an N/A EF??
thinking about ditching my greddy SP catback for something a litte bigger/lighter.. and was toying with the idea of running something like a Type One muff under the rear LCA so as to let it exit on the stock side, and not have a big gay bend right before like so many "N1" EF style exhausts
has anybody done this??

has anybody done this??
I don't think you'll notice any improvement.
The exhaust was originally designed above the lca like the way the greddy sp is.
good luck and whatever you choose to do.

do you mean under the gas tank???
you can't go under the LCA.....
a guy on this board by the name of ian has an under the gas tank custom exhaust...

well ya under the gastank, im thinking something along the lines of the RSR Invidia catback for EG's.
my plan would be custom stainless 2" piping with a T1R muffler, wich should weigh ALOT less than the Greddy i currently have. im worried about a big loss in low end exhaust velocity (resulting in the loss of low end power), and of course ground clearance.

Why do you care? You can run your damn exhaust in a friggin pretzel shape and you won't lose more than 1-2hp. Go ahead and run it under the gas tank/LCA, just don't come back complaining when you've smashed it in.
hi ryan, is there something large stuck up your *** this afternoon, or are you always this big of a *****?
thanx for the help buddy, i couldnt have done it without you.
cheers

Just telling you the facts. I've ran a conventional style exhaust and an underaxle exhaust. If you really want me to be an ******* just let me know and I can.

ooooo im trembling, does that mean you're gonna get tough with me on the internet?!
*scared*
if you would have liked to give me some USEFUL info, perhaps you could have given impressions on the underaxle setup you ran? low end power loss, top end gains?
im well aware how low it will hang and the risks involved, but im not too worried since the roads are generally pretty good around here. my greddy is getting beat, doesnt sit right and the b-pipe hangs too low (was off a civic hatch, modded, then modded again for the b16a) so im looking to start from scratch here, and can peice together a custom stainless catback with Type One muff for under 600 CDN.

No, I'm not going to be an internet tough guy. 95% of the people on here could kick my ***. I'm a skinny whiteboy. I don't front. But I will be an ******* if I feel like it.
I already told you my impressions. It doesn't make a difference. It felt the exact same. This was on a high power engine too. It will make even less of a differnce on a low power setup.

high powered NA or high powered FI?
thats good to hear tho, one of the reasons i want to go underaxle is the shops around here arent the greatest when it comes to custom bends, so the less bends the less chance they'll screw up, and obviously the lower cost of labour.
i was mainly worried i'd lose power, im not after the magic add_20hp_exhaust here..

High powered N/A. You won't lose any power. Why not just get a few mandrel bends from JC Whitney and take those to the shop.
we did my friends hayame under his left rear lCA without any problem, he wanted it to angle up rather than sideways. he has a full wwrs kit and it looks really good and hasn't been smashed yet after about 3 months.
