Stock eg civic tach reading wrong...can it be adjusted?
I just installed a cluster with a stock rpm gauge in my eg civic sedan. I also have a vafc-2 hooked up and I noticed the stock rpm gauge reads differently than the rpm on the vafc-2. Is there a way to adjust the stock rpm gauge? Is this a common problem?
I thought there was a thread about how Honda does a bad job soldering the clusters so the op did a writeup of how to resolder a cluster? Haven't tested it myself, but worth a try if you're **** about it.
At idle it seems to be accurate but when I accelerate it is about 500 rpm less than what it should be. I might try the re-soldering thing...has anyone been successful in fixing this problem?
Well I removed the cluster and re-soldered all the solder points on the back of the cluster board. Then I removed the tach assembly and removed the tachometer from its circuit board. Then I re-soldered a few circuits on that board and sanded the points where the gauge bolts to the board. Now it is working perfectly. Don't know which thing I did actually fixed it but its working even with the crappy soldering job I did on the rpm gauge board. Thanks for the advice everyone!
