97 civic cx - bad misfire and backfiring

Default 97 civic cx - bad misfire and backfiring

i have 1997 honda civic cx and can't figure out the problem.car is hard to start then when it starts idle is fine rev it up and lots of back firing won't rev past 3000 rpms and at 3000 rpms punch it and bogs hard.please need some help.also changed plugs,wires,and fuel filter.

check engine lite on won't flash and scanner won't scan

Jump the service connector then. If you cannot pull codes we can't really help you much. Especially since getting info out of you is like pulling teeth.
Check your timing.

Prob bad ecu if your sure your jumping the connector right. Have another ecu you could try?

When the key is turned to the ONII position it stays solid? Are you sure you're jumping the connector correctly?

Inspect the inside of the distributor and check the mechanical timing.

inside the distributor looks fine but from looking on the web saw other cars with same problem being a bad distributor

my brother had a problem like this in his da it was the tps or map he just changed the whole throttle body if it revs up all the way when u dont step on it just rev normal than were in the same boat just mine bogs after 4000 rpm
