Default Integra Ls Motor drop into 92 Civic hatch..

I have a 92 Honda Civic Hatch. Planning to drop a 91 Integra LS Motor in it. Will this motor pass smog for my car?.

Did you buy the engine yet? If not, don't. You'll have more work to do than you bargained for. Get at least a '94 Integra engine Vtec (GSR) or Non-Vtec (LS), depending on your intentions and budget. A 91 Integra LS engine has a cable tranny(Your 92 hatch=Hydraulic tranny), different mounts, and a different/older OBD (92-95 hatch is OBD2).

So. if I bought the 94 Ls non-Vtec.. will this pass on the smog?. I'm just more worried about the smog. or should I stick with the Si vtec for less trouble?.

If you hooked it up correctly with all wiring and emission lines, it should pass smog easily. Anyways, its always good to get an engine the same year as your car or later.

This guy's statement is quasi correct.

1. If you want to pass smog legally you have to have a motor of the Same year or newer. A '91 motor won't cut it.
2. A '91 motor is pre-OBD. Your 92 hatch is OBD-1. Basically you are gonna have to switch the distributor, fuel rail, injectors, and would be a good idea to get a diff. ECU.
3. The transmission. You have a hydraulic trans. The B18a has a cable trans.
You either have to find a b-series hydro tranny (600+) or buy the Hasport hydro to cable conversion (around $500?)

Basically if you are really want to get an LS motor. Get a 94+ for the sake of easibility of putting it in.

Hope this helped.

You cannot use an OLDER motor in a newer car. Like what you are talking about. It is illegal. You have to use the same year model OR NEWER motor. Check the laws for yourself.

$225 from Hasport. I have this setup in my 93 hatch with 94 b18b with a 92 ls tranny. Still looking for a hydro tranny tho.
