Default Valve spring retainers

Ok so today I looked at the head I bought that had crower springs and retainers and the retainers looks thin. Do I have to buy the same retainers or can I use another brand retainer. If so which brand and should I go with chromoly or titanium, also do I have to buy new locks?

Its still on the head, but the sides of the retai.ners feels sharp and its been on the head for at least 7 years. Does anyone know where I can buy steel retainers instead of titanium?
