98 ls swapped into da9, help with backfire
Ok I just swapped a 98 ls into my da9 car is obd1 when I finished with the installation I noticed my engine harness didint have a map sensor plug, but w.e I'll install that later, so I turned ony car everything seems fine BUT I took it for a test drive and when I shift it back fires LOUD, flames do come out the exhaust and it literally blew a hole in the exhaust, motor has only headers and yes the exhaust has a gas leak... But idk why it back fires so much and so loud
ok with out the MAP sesor It will NEVER run right.
hondas don't have a Mass Air Flow Sensor to tell the ECU how much air it's getting so they depend on the MAP and TPS to tell how much air is getting in the Manifold. this helps the ecu to control the timing AND fuel when you first step on the throttle or let off the throttle so right now you ecu is trying to run the engien with very little info as to what is going on.
also if you didn't change the sensors fron the OBDII to ones from a OBDI engine and are using an OBDI ECU them the readings the ECU are getting will be wrong for some of the sensors and what the ECU is expecting to see and will make adjustments to fuel and timing to correct them to read as it belives thay should.
Very few sensors from the eara of OBDI are the same as OBDII the ones that are most of the time don't talk to the ecu at all and just connect to the guages or are switchs for the dash lights.

I guess ima wire my map sensor and if it still back fires then I have to see what's up, Thanx a lot SOLSTER, I figured the backfire was due to either too much fuel and or too much air so the sensor makes sense
DC4LSTEG um cels?? What's that

CEL = Check Engine Light
CELS is short hand for is your light on and what codes do you have.
Check the stickies for how to pull the code from your car
also what is the FULL setup your running
Engine Block code (d16?? b18?? k20??)
Engine Mods
ECU Code (ie PG7 P28 P72)
Is it Chipped for your motor or Stock for your Motor?
Body it's in
Year
Model
Sub Model (ie LS GS RS GS-R)

Get a map sensor. Not sure about honda's, but your car is probably running in open-loop (predetermined fuel mixture) so it's running rich as *****.

ok open loop closed loop is weather or not the ECU..... you know i went to school for this and i'll help but i'm not going into how a ECU works when you wont even understand half of it.
