Default Air duct

I have a 91 Accord and the air duct from the air cleaner to the plenium is broke. It has a quater size hole in it and is broke clene though just before the plenium. My question is will this prevent the car from starting? Any suggestions??? Thanks for looking and any advice.

Nope, shouldn't be a problem other than you may get some unfiltered air into the engine.

if you are wanting a quick fix get some "gorilla tape" and tape around the whole thing from filter box to plenum

^Also a good way to test your start problem.

Is it turning over?

the air tube can be repaired for now with duct tape or any strong tape but these tapes dont last long due to the engine temp. a used duct can be found in a junkyard or on ebay for cheap. or you could go to autozone and get some epoxy to repair the tube. jb weld or anything like that from autozone will work. just make sure it can withstand the heat from the engine bay.

tell us exactly what happens when it is not starting so that we can help you find the problem. the car will start with the air duct completely removed. all it does is filter air so that is not your problem

Let me start out with its -30 out. When I try and dart the car it turns over very slow. So what I'm doing today it placing a space heater in the engine compartment (watch it very closly). To see if the heat helps it.

sounds like the battery may be running low and not providing enough power for the cold start. starter could also be going bad. both can be tested at autozone for free. check the oil level too. i doubt a heater is gonna change anything.

Have jumpers on the car now it's close to starting. When I turn the key it it's starting to rotate better. The battery is a month old but I will have to check the starter.

check and make sure the battery connections are all tight and clean. including the ground coming from the transmission->negative battery terminal->frame and the power wire going from the positive battery terminal->starter.

look for dirt or battery acid build up at the connections. you can unplug the battery and use a wire brush to clean the terminals

yessir that could definitely be your problem. you want all the connections to be cleaned and then tight
