Default Soon to be ep3 owner.

Hey all.
I'm new to this forum.
I'm in the process of trying to find a civic si (02-05).
I can't seem to find any parts for these cars.
Sites?
Has anyone had any experience with the Spoon Sports cams and 4-2 header.
Thanks in advance for any info.

I was considering a dc5 but my first Honda was an 89 ef hatch.
I have that hatch fever so couldnt stray away.
With in a month of purchase I'll be getting kpro.

Well before my civic I had a 97vw golf, 95 vw gti, 96 vw passat tdi and a 99 jetta.
So I've been in with Dubs for years.
Now I own a 2000 mustang gt and need more than 17 mpg but still over 200hp.

I'm going to try at least to pull 250 HP out of a k20a3 with either toda cams or spoon sport cams. With matching exhaust and better valvetrain.

The DC5 is considered a 3dr hatchback.........

Does Toda even make cams for a base since it only has intake vtec? I didn't think they did...

You'll need a head swap probably or definitely swap out all of the internals in the head.

Honestly, unless you have a lot of time and a lot of money, forced induction is the better route (both financial and being satisfied), or swapping in a K24a2 and building that up.

Head swap with supporting mods prob get you there but like everybody said its going to cost a lot of money building a k20a3 I was going that route too but I wanted something faster I read a lot of stuff about the k20a3 its a good motor but just will cost more to build. I was keeping up with gsr with my ep but now that i have my dc5 I blow them out of the water lol

I like dc5s but that's not the kind of hatch I like.
My main thing is I want to know if anyone has used the spoon sports exhaust header and cams that are offered on passwordjdm.
I plan to later go with a street JRSC but i like n/a sleepers.
Not opposed to a head swap just not a full swap.

i can tell you that you will not get anywhere near 250 hp out of the k20a3. i went from a gsr swapped eg to my ep3 and the ep3 is wayyyyyyyyyyyy slower. so unless you plan on swapping your ep with a k20a or k24/k20 combo you wont have very much power in the N/A form.

By the time you get a K20A3 to reach 250hp N/A, it won't even be a K20A3 anymore. Basically a million dollar Frankenstein with K20A3 on the block stamp.

So the k20a3 is seriously a worthless motor?

For N/A, yes. Its only good for fuel economy. Bolt ons including cams will not help a whole lot.

You can supercharge or turbo it and it will be OK. Power wise, it feels similar to a K24A2.

Well then.
Looks like ill be doing a k20a3 swap then.
How much do the A3 motors generally go for?
Toda vtec killer cams any good for the A2?
Also I went through the sticky about the swap but can't seem to find what header to use for the swap.
Just a regular A3 header or what?
Also do A3 parts bolt up to a2 motors? Like intake manifold headers ect.

the car comes with the a3 from the factory so if your swapping it you want an a2 or k20a or k24a2 or the cheapest way to get more torque is the k24a1 swap.

for the header i believe you can use the stock a3 one or any aftermarket one.

toda vtec killer cams are not street cams and wouldnt be good for a daily.

a k24 bottom end with a k20a head and rbc intake manifold with a good header and exhaust with kpro should be able to give you close to 250 hp

and i know that personally i have an intake manifold from a type s on my a3 so the parts interchange

To answer your question in the OP. Corsport sells a lot of great parts for our cars. ClubRSX as well. Among many others. Spoon parts will be alot of $$$ for not as much go. JDM bling sells high these days, I'd opt to go with a more cost effective race header and reasonably priced GOOD cam set. Don't forget KPRO! If you plan on doing more than intake and exhaust, do yourself a favor and get it.

Ah yeah, everyone got off topic. Check out these sites for better EP information:

www.ephatch.com
www.clubep3.com

Parts to buy stuff for the EP3:

www.showstoppersusa.com
www.corsportusa.com
www.speedstar-racing.com
www.passwordjdm.com
www.icbmotorsport.com
www.jhpusa.com
www.kingmotorsports.com

I usually do most of my shopping on the forums EPhatch and ClubEP3. But for parts that aren't going up for sale, I will buy them new online.

Thanks man.
That's what I needed.
I'm wanting to do an all motor build for road course racing and daily driving.
Still awaiting info on spoon sports header and camshafts haha.

As far as I'm concerned for the a3 upgrading the cams won't be that much. Even if you did an all motor build, you'll need kpro to tune it. Check out the forums I gave you. They have a lot more information on what you want to do. And the spoon header I'm not too sure. Many members I know don't use it maybe because there's something better.

Where is the best place to buy a CTR k20a?
I figure if I'm going to do a swap I need the best k20 for all motor.

i would just get a k24 or see if you can source a k20a2 for cheap. check clubrsx. if you want to pay full retail you can go to www.hmotorsonline.com keep in mind you're gonna need a new ecu for the swap but i would just get kpro since it will benefit you more, so plan to spend an extra 800-1000$ on kpro

Well I have already got ahold of kpro.
So that's taken care of.
I am going to be getting the k20a type R.
