Default 2003 Honda Accord - Windshield wiper arm

This happened in northern Michigan with snow and ice involved. The driver wiper arm does not complete the cycle, then hits the passenger arm. My son removed the arm and the post is stripped of its splines. Anyh 'cheap' fix or do I need to replace the linkage?

Cheap fix is to weld it. Spline is part of linkage which is just over $100 new. Shouldn't be too difficult to replace after removing the hood. If you do that it makes sense to do new wiper arms as well but they are $50 a piece.
