Default Easiest swap for my 93 Del sol

Hey guys, I recently bought my 93 del sol S with the stock d15b7 in it. Bought it at 180k miles with a couple things missing in the interior which i ended up buying the missing parts for under 50 bucks. The exterior was in pretty decent shape too. Bought it for 900. Seems like the engine will be going out on me soon (eats oil WAY too much) so they advised me to rebuild the engine. But paying 1k + to rebuild the engine? No thanks, might as well buy a used engine or try to find one at a pick and pull. So here is my question:

I'm wanting to get a 'new' engine on it, but I'm no mechanic, but I do wanna try to do it myself with the help of a couple friends that have some good knowledge.

So the question is, what engine can I drop in there without the need of buying anything extras or mods and such. I would really not want to change the transmission since its in pretty decent shape still. Its an automatic. I do plan on changing it to a manual later on, but don't have the money yet. So for now, I wanna go somewhat cheap until I'm able to save up for a mean engine.

Thanks in advance!

Shoot, finding a d15b7 might be a bit tricky here.

What if I was to stay with the same series engine?

I was thinking maybe d15z6 (Si del sol), d16y8 or d16y7? Can i put any of those in without needing to change transmission ?

Also, I believe the reason they told me to change the engine or rebuilt was due to the rings being worn out. So my oil goes quick.

Your criteria was no extra things to buy and no mods. So nothing as far as I know will fit except the same engine.

Let the motor in the car go for now. No need in spending the money now on the motor when you plan on doing a 5 speed swap later. Save now and play later.

^Yeah that's exactly what I plan on doing, I'm not planning on changing it until my engine dies on me. The thing is, I don't know when that will be, so if it happens within the next month, I wanna know what the easiest thing would be. Know what I mean? But of course, if my del sol loves me and wants to last 6 more months, then I'd drop a bigger engine in it. I just wanna be ready if it gives out soon.

I don't think you read these posts. The OP is looking for as little modification as possible to do the swap. None if he can help it.

the del sol SI is a d16z6.
the del sol VTEC is the b16 model.

with what your needs/wants are right now just get another d15B7. can almost lift that thing out yourself. should be like 2-500 depending on mileage/quality.
then do some research on what you want as far as a beefier engine(h2b!?). then when its time for more you'll be ready.

Just drop a d16z6 or y8, they go for pretty cheap, no more thrn 150 for a l, long block, all you would need to do is buy a different computer for vtec and wire it up for vtec, correct me if im wrong anyone

He should also pull an engine from a 93-95 Sol, 96-97 is OBD-II and requires more effort.

I'd just keep my eyes open for an Si or VTEC Sol, then use the S as a parts car. The engine/trans won't move over but virtually all the interior/exterior/suspension pieces will.
