Default Driver's Side Window Stuck, Glass is on Wrong Track

Hey, folks! "Zippy," my usually no-fuss 2000 Civic Si, has a stubborn driver's side window. The motor works fine. The glass has somehow gotten off track and is coming up outside of the rubber gasket. Yes, I imagine I am about to learn how to pull off the door panel, but I was hoping someone had a quick trick to jumping the window glass back onto the correct track without having to remove the panel. Somebody make my day?

The pen is sticking in the channel where the glass should be, but you can see it's coming up outside of that channel and gets stuck.

There is no other way but to actually do it. Take off the door panel and loosen up some screws. No short cut for this one.

Sigh. I this usually fixable by simply reinstalling the glass in the right channel or is this more often the symptom of a regulator that should be replacd?

This is a pretty common issue with 1996-2000 Civics (power and manual windows).

You're going to have to remove the plastic door card and carefully peel away the moisture seal from the door so you can access the glass and get it lined back up again.

The glass is held on by two bolts on the regulator. Roll the window up and down in order to access these bolts through a hole in the door.

The regulator ("scissors") is likely damaged as well. It's usually this piece warping which causes the glass to jump off track. If you don't replace it then expect the glass to do this when you move the glass up and down at least some of the time and it will likely get worse with use.

M^^^ yup mine does this too. Take it all apart and put some grease in the rubbers to allow it to slide better.
Its not much work just putting the panel back on. Its easier to do it with the window all the way down and the tweater if u have em off.
Its easy to do don't sweat it

Btw, do not use white lithium grease. Use silicone spray.

The Si coupe and EX coupe generally seem to have the mirror mounted tweaters btw.

Silicone grease works well if not better as the spray

That's fine. I didn't say not to use silicone grease.

I'm just saying to avoid the white lithium grease as it's not supposed to come in contact with rubber parts. Petroleum based products such as white lithium grease and WD-40 can damage rubber.

All done! Pulling off the door panel was a piece of cake given the instructions found elsewhere on this site. I loosened the bolt holding the bottom of the track, slipped the glass in there, and that's all there was to it. The hardest thing about the job was figuring out how the electrical connectors unlocked.
