10w-30 or what?
Ive got a 95 vtec and am running 10w-30 but im burning about a quart every 1500 miles so should I keep running that or is there a better oil to run. the car only has 83000 miles and I'm running full synthetic. thanks
I ran 10w-30 for one 3000 mile interval and I was very dissapointed in the oils performance. I too was consuming about the same amount of oil as you stated. I'm now using 5w-30 and I have had no oil consumption.
One theroy I heard was that the molecules in the 10w-30 are smaller therfore they are more able to get through the seals.
Don't know if the theroy is true or not.

go with the 15w-50 "performance driving formula" from mobile one. i don't know why the oil consumption went down with the other erson switching to 5w-30. Are you a vtec fiend? cause if you are, vtec burns oil. if you're in vtec all the time then that is part of your problem. back off the vtec and you'll probably keep more oil in your pan. but that's no fun right?
also. since vtec is activated by oil pressure via a solonoid, if your running low on oil, your vtec won't "hit" as hard.
