Gelcoat Clearcoat Crack
I have a carbon fiber body panel that has a crack in it from sitting in a garage with huge temperature changes. The crack is all the way through the clear to the carbon fiber. What can I use to fill the crack and then buff it back out?
im leaning twards silmar 249b which is a polyester resin...kinda pisses me off as they are brand new and have just been sitting in the garage for years...im just now getting around to putting them on the car and one has a crack less then 2" long.
Let me know what you guys think would be the right type of resin to use.
Thanks much.
silmar 249, and be sure to order th esurfacing wax. This stuff doesnt cure solid between coats, it stays tacky. Once you put a few coats on, and youre ready to sand, you add a little of the surfacing wax and that allows it to cure so you can sand it.
