I need help with swaping in a b20B into a 97ek

i have done 2 b16 swap a ls swap and changed some single cams so
i have a idea on what to do, now its time to swap a b20b with a b16 tranny in my 97ek but my friends are telling me its not as simple as a b16 and there are something im going to have to change before being able to run it...so before i start is there anything i should know about a b20B swap


Here is my list....
-b20b from (hmotorsonline)
-b16 tranny from my old si
-ek hasport motor mounts
-gsr shift linkege
-2000 si axles
-p28 ecu
-step down harness 0bd2-0bd1

is there anything else i many need or have to change on the motor/tranny
to make it run in my ek???

 

i just picked up a b20b myself and im putting it into the same car.

pretty sure you will need the t bracket from a 99-00 si as well.

and its always good to go full size radiator if you dont already. dont have to, but your motor will like it more.

did you use the same TB,intakemen cuz i been told the throttle cable is backwords on this motor i got the 99-00ver

 

you're gonna need the si mount bracket on the drivers side also.

throttle cable goes the same way as a non-gsr. gsr is the only one that mounts differently.

 

well right now i have a b16a2 in my car so i have the si bracket and the t-bracket i just hope all i would have to change is the b16 long block for the b20 long block

 

did yours come with the giraffe style intake mani?

 

how can i tell the differnce between the two mani

 

the giraffe style is just reallyt all, as where the other isnt, if you got the giraffe one you will need to switch it out. the hood wont close with it, ill try to post pics to show you the difference.

i guess i got lucky cuz i got the ls one does that mean i dont have to change the mani or the TB???

 

you probably dont have that one, those dont come on b20s normally, but no if what you have on there isnt the giraffe one you should be good to go. mine didnt come with giraffe style either, mine came with the P75 intake mani.

there should be stamp on yours thatll tell you which one it is.

post a picture of the stamp or just look it up if you dont already know what one you have.
