Default Finally started on my SRT-4 turbo header

Started the manifold last night. I've only dabbled with SS welding so I just dove right in with this after some practice. It's gonna be a side winder setup. Hoping to finish it tonight minus the wastegates.

Using a Miller Diversion 180 with LS-17 torch, gas lens setup and #10 cup with flow around 18 CFM, and 1/16 308 filler rod. Tungsten is %2 cerigated (sp?) 3/32". It will be back gassed when it's actually welded and not just tacked in placed.

The manifold is up high but should easily allow for making a 4" downpipe right off the back of the my S400 67mm.

Ideally I wanted to sit it further forward but it won't fit with my intake manifold.

Never mind the mess in the quick tear down area to the side. I haven't gotten a chance to clean it up. I'm basically here by myself all of the time.

They are. There is gonna be one tube to come off of each of them and it will carry the remainder of the exhaust gasses to the split flange.

Interesting exhaust ports on that motor, lol. Are you swapping the motor in and out to check clearances?

Looking good so far, in for more!

Have a engine in the car and a one with a ruined block on a stand. Sits side by side so it makes going back and fourth easy.

Made some progress worth posting. I don't have a lot of nice tools to make things as pretty or go as fast as I would like. Just using a chop saw, grinding wheel, and a dremel to clean things up. But it's coming along!

Finally got the runners welded up, well the other is %80 done. Got the 1 and 4 cylinders welded to the manifold and turbo hung. Once other 2 runners are on I'm going to get the wastegates mounted.

Dirty. Did you try to crush the sch10 into an oval for the ports or what?

looking good, only thing i would suggest would be a bigger bevel on your joints. Are you planning on bracing the turbo.

Yes, most Definetly bracing the turbo. The turbo weighs 39lbs, so she is getting some extra support. Lol. And I am still working on my ss welding. Lol. But any bevels I did, I did them more steep, compared to the pieces that have the pre beveled ends from ace stainless. I was making my Northeren tool grinding wheel do work!

Made some more progress tonight. Just waste gate ports left now!

Also hear are some close ups of the flange to runner welds. I did these standing up and with the foot control unplugged and only used the torch handle. I'm still working on being shaky and maneuvering in those positions.

Thanks
