Noise after letting go the clutch pedal
If its a 96 like in his tag its prob a input shaft...Not fun but canbe done.. If the input shaft bearing is the problem make sure the housing gets a good cleaning.. THink theres like 8 bearings in it and we were only able to find 6
throw out bearing. mine does the same, as soon as i release the clutch it sounds like somethings rubbing, aand if i just press it just a little it stops. been driving with it for a while :/ swapping soon so i figure ill just let it be.
at times it wont do it almost like it fixes its self, but thaan always comes back. i think it sounds like a tob, but could be isb too! hope you get it figured out

if its a little squeaking noise then i had the same problem. i sprayed some wd40 on this little thingy thats sticking out close to the engine block that moves every time you press the clutch and then the noise went away.
^ think you're talking about the clutch slave cylinder? i had that problem too, i just took out the two bolts and boot and put hi-temp grease on the ball and part the ball inserts to sticking out of the tranny and put it all back and it stopped it.
the tob still has the same noise though, although this did make it much quieter, you may wanna check that too OP. good to do anyways, but still sounds like your isb or tob.

My Ek was like that I know it's not clutch bec I got a new one the noise was loud after a while so I sold it.... They told me it was either bearings or sincros
Mmmmm I was told something about a bearing. I replaced the clutch twice since bought the car...about 2 weeks. Ago I did the second replacement of the clutch presure plate pucsbearing and the bearing. That goes in the middle of the flywheel first time replaceing that bearing thou I thought it wolud make a diffrence but its the same thing that noise does go loudeer in nutral
Thanks guys for helping me out I'm going to replace all bearings that go.with the tranny instead, but I'm thinking. That it should be much better if I replace a couple at the time to actually know wich bearing is the bad one... what do u guys think??
As a general rule if the noise starts when you disengage the clutch (floor the pedal) it's the throwout bearing, if it starts when you engage the clutch (release the pedal) it's the input shaft bearing. I've heard of it being a crankshaft bearing too, but usually that noise is fairly constant with minimal change based on clutch being in or out.
If you have the transmission apart to replace the input shaft bearing, you may as well replace the other bearings in the transmission - at least the other side of the input shaft. Remember that you should replace the oil seal at the ISB at the same time, don't reuse it (assuming you could figure out a way to try and reuse it - normally they get damaged during removal).
The idea is that the labor to pull & disassemble & reassemble & install the transmission is so great there's little point in not replacing the bearings while you've got it apart. Heck if you you have a 2nd car to tool around in during the downtime, examine the synchros once you get it apart.

Those are the guys you want to talk to for getting the rebuild kit. Prices are good, parts are all OEM. Just make sure you tell them the year, make, model, and TRIM. I made the mistake of not mentioning the trim, and got bearings for an EX S40 transmission, which don't work in a DX S40. They sent me new bearings though. Great company.

^^^They should have asked you what model before sending out just any kit!
Sounds like an input shaft bearing to me. Hit up Gearspeed. I get all my parts from them and they have done some awesome trans builds for me in the past. The prices are also way better. Give James a call 909-476-7252 He can answer any trans ?s

With the right tools (a bearing puller and feeler gauge) the ISB is extremely easy to replace, as long as you get the factory service manual and take your time. I can't emphasize it enough. Take your time, measure EVERYTHING, and make sure EVERYTHING is within spec. Shops in my area quoted anything from $300 to $1000 to do it, and that was with me bringing my own bearings, seals, and synchros.
Don't be afraid to take the task on yourself. Worst case scenario, you pull another transmission from the junk yard for $50. Regardless of if you decide to do it yourself, or have a shop do it, go ahead and replace all of the bearings and seals. No point in cracking the transmission open if you aren't going to.
