Default Where to properly the engine while replacing engine mounts

I have a 2002 Honda Accord EX V6. I need to change out engine mounts starting with passenger side. I have read comments on where to support the engine while replacing the mounts, but I cannot visualize it. Can someone provide a detailed description, or picture?

Support the front of your car on Jack stands and use your jack and some plywood to gently lift the weight of the engine/transmission from the mounts and then proceed to your task.

I would hope that as sufficient visualization .

i like to do what the guy above me said but also use cinder blocks and flat plywood to have a solid support for the engine

Where exactly would I position the flat piece of plywood? Directly under engine?

By doing this, will I be able to access all mounts? I can only see 3 mounts and am not sure if there is a 4th.

You place it under the oil pan, the fourth mount is near the firewall.

Why are you replacing all of the mounts? the only mount that usually breaks is the front.

Thats what I have been told about the mounts is the front is pretty much the only one to worry about. I took the car in recently and they said the front needs replacing and the back too, but the front is more important. Quoted roughly $450 (parts/labor) to replace front. I am seeing replacement mounts for about $45!!!

I want to take a good look at the other mounts to see their condition. As of now only replacing the front passenger side. Do you know if I would see the same wear and tear on the back mounts (cracks...) to see if they need replacing OR is it pretty much out of the question that they don't really need to be replaced?

to inspect the mounts take a good flashlight and look at each one. look for cracks or breaks in the rubber. the rear mount is a biatch to replace

From what I know the rear mount seldom goes bad.

Another inspection method is to have a helper shift from neutral to park or from park to drive and you look for any excess engine movement.

Make sure you practice common sense when doing the above procedure!

Thanks for the help kidcool1977! This past weekend I finally had the time to replace the engine mount without any problems and it took about 1 hour. It was pretty simple. A couple tough screw locations, but no real problems.

I still get a decent kick from the engine when going from Park to Reverse. Not as bad, but it still moves. Could this be another big issue? I didn't check the other mounts, should i take a look?

Thanks again for all the help!

Does the transmission shift smoothly when in drive?

RPM still gets a little higher than it should right before kicking into next gear. It does feel like a little kick when it gets into a higher gear.

To fully answer, no it does not shift smoothly. Smoother than before but not like when I first drove the car.

My buddy suggested investigating the timing belt, worth possibly taking a look? Or take in the car for a complete diagnostic?

Not sure what your timing belt would have to do with your car not shifting properly.

My assumption would be transmission issues, but it's an assumption. As you stated take it in for diagnostic.
