Prelude Auto Transmission
What transmissions will work with a 2001 Prelude? I've read a little information saying that only a 2001 transmission will work with the 2001 Preludes. Any other insight as to what other options I have (please no 5sp swap as this if my fiances car).
im pretty sure only 97-01 prelude trans will work. and yeah those transmissions are junk. you might as well stock up since they go bad like every oil change
I've been getting mixed information. Local guy told me 01 transmissions were different from 98-00 transmission. Something about the transmission had different components mounted differently. Is there really any issue with that or was he just talking out of his ***? I'm not really familiar with auto transmission as all my vehicles are manuals.

Either way, iirc, the lawsuit regarding transmission failure occurred before the 00-01 cars were out or were able to experience failures on the scale of the 98-99 transmissions. so they weren't included in the warranty extension. There is no fundamental design difference in the transmissions.
And as an owner of two seperate 2000 model year automatic transmission/paperweight, I can tell you they are no better. A brand spanking rebuilt one straight from the Honda dealership lasted 40,000 miles.
Surprisingly the transmission has lasted 138k miles and is just now giving out. But the original plan is to get it fixed so we can sell it and get her a sedan.
thanks
thanks
any prelude auto trans from 97-01 will work. possibly a h23a vtec auto trans as well but i have no idea and since everyone is 5 speed happy im sure no one else has used that auto trans lol or tried.

Mechanically, you can use any M6HA transmission. Electronically, you will have to get a new second clutch, oil pressure switch from a 2001 model. Also, a shift valve A+B, from a 2001. I do believe, there is something else.
The transmissions are basically the same with the same failure rate. Won't matter.

My auto trans 2gear and 3rd were constantly slipping. So I just got it replaced but the mechanic had a hard time finding another transmission from the 97-01 prelude. I believe he took parts off an accord. Don't quite know what year but Ill find out.
