I have a 95 honda accord and the stick shift no longer can go into first or second gear, if I go all the way to the left and up it goes into third. For a while I could go into one of the other gears, yank it to the right, then go up into neutral and then it would allow me to go into first gear instead of third. But, it's gotten worse and worse and now no matter what I do it still won't go far enough left to get into first gear. I can't even find either first or second, it just goes into third or fourth and won't go past them. Doesn't matter if I'm standing still or moving.

How tough of a fix is this? Is there info online on how to fix it?

 

check ur tranny fluid, does it knock when it goes into 3rd or 4th?

 

No it doesn't knock, it just starts out really slow and takes a while to get up to 3k rpm. I hate that cuz I'm sure that's really bad for the engine and it also puts me in danger when leaving intersections!

 

did you try to lube all the moving components

 

No I haven't. Could that really be all it is? When I'm in 3rd or 4th gear I can move it way to the right, there's a lot of give. Not sure if that's normal.

 

check for bad bushings and if the bushings arent bad then try to lube it up
