Looking to make power on a All motor set up
So its looks like this year i am not gonna boost my car... So anyway i have my motor all apart, So i am looking to make decent power on a GSR block ls crank and Gsr head. Any ideas of a 200+ whp set?
Thanks
Thanks
To make that power, you'll need to be tuned. You won't pass. So either suck it up and get around inspections, or don't bother trying to make power. There are a million build threads all motor. Check them out, do some research.
Under the tech section click on all motor. Badda-bing badda-boom, done. You can learn a lot there, but I would most definately use google just as much if not more, it will yield more results.

There is also a stock displacement dyno thread as well, I think...
Have a good look at that thread. There are a lot of ways to make 200+ whp but I think 11-11.5 comp and Skun2 pro 1s would be a good place to start, if you've got the motor apart.

Ya i have a set of skunk2 tuner2 that i bought off of my friend. I also have a victor X mani with a 70mm omni throttle-body which i have been reading up on and everyone is say that the victor x has no mid range its all top end i guess
Should be able to make 200 whp with Tuner 2s. You'll definitely want to ditch that VictorX for a PerformerX or some other ITR style manifold. You might be able to trade straight up. At the very least you should have no trouble finding buyers for the VictorX.
If I remember correctly from another one of his threads, it's being boosted, so I would hold on to the victor-x and install it when your are installing the turbo kit. And I don't think they make a performer-x with GSR flange do they?
If the car is going to be boosted then I don't see a point to doing an all motor build now. A build meant for tuner2s is not going to do well with boost.
I'm pretty sure that there is a B18 PerfX

I'd ditch the victor as well, the Performer responds better to midrange. I will be running my stock IM/TB on my N/A Build, should be finished in a couple months, I'll let you know what kind of power we make. 11.53:1 CR on Pro 1's
Anyway, I might be thinking of someone else, I though he was the one talking about going boosted.
But to make power NA, best advice I can give you... High compression and headwork. And then pretty much just do the simple bolt on's (intake mani., header-back exhaust, velocity stack intake), then get a good tune. You should be good for over 200hp easy.
Well would you look at that lol. I told him to order me one and he told me they didn't make the performer for the P72 head. What kind of poop is that!
Yea I would rather the mani help with low end rather than top end. When I boost it I am just going to remove the secondaries. Then eventually victor-x or something like it. Definately not a junk2 or blox though lol
I think performerx is decent, but you will sacrifice some midrange from what my tuner tells me. As for GSR, for a build like mine, and many other.."mild" 11.3-12CR builds, I think the GSR manifold is best suited for keeping that midrange. No sense in sacrificing midrange for 5whp uptop if you ask me..
Yeah just rock the GS-R until boost. Then VictorX all the way.

I think you need >200 whp to take advantage of the flow from the PerfX. Larger displacement or higher compression builds seem to pick up power lower down, as well. But 1.8L engines with close-to-stock comp are better off with GS-R manis.

Ya money got real tight real quick i really wanna get my car out by May so that's why my boy just talked me out of boost this year and said just run NA. But the thing is the motor was ripped apart anyway so i said to do something until i do my boost set up.
What compression are you going with on your turbo build? That's what creates the major problem between doing a turbo and an all-motor build. Tuner2s will also be wasted and the compression they need is no good for boost. When time comes to turbo you'll have to rebuild with new pistons and probably also get new cams.
If money is an issue then you might consider starting with the bottom end you want for turbo and running on GS-R cams. They will turbo just fine and they'll get you around until you have more cash.
