I have a 2002 Honda accord bought brand new from a Honda dealer. My car now has 103k miles. My transmission was rebuilt at around 70k miles. My car has been burning a lot of oil for 3-4 years. I have to put a quart or 2 every couple of weeks. Yesterday my car started flashing cel and the engine started vibrating badly. I drove it to the nearest gas station and checked the oil, ofcourse it was low so I put in 3 quarts of oil. Drove it to advanced auto with the vibrating engine to have the codes read. They were cylinder 2 misfire and cylinder 4 misfire codes. I then drove the car to my mechanic 3 miles down. My mechanic calls me tells me the following- the car was low on oil, there was no coolant in the car, I may have a dropped valve. And that the problem is not emission related and that he changed all the wires and plugs. But he is going to let me know more once he has more time to spend on my car on Monday as he was by himself yesterday. So my question is-how much does the repair cost for a dropped valve? Is this car going to give me headaches now since I am starting to have engine problems.

 

anytime the cel light is flashing it means that the cat is being damaged...the reason why it was flashing was because of the misfires and the unburnt fuel was messing up the cat
