Loud grinding noise after flywheel/clutch job
I finally have the overhauled transmission back in the car, and my electrical problems solved. While the tranny was off, I replaced the flywheel with a Fidanza lightweight, and a Comp Clutch 6 puck.
Now, when I start the car, it makes a LOUD grinding noise, similar to the noise you get when you take your foot off the clutch when you're only half in-gear. It doesn't matter what gear the transmission is in, or if the clutch is engaged/disengaged. The car feels like it'll drive normally (I didn't want to leave the motor running long enough to do a true road test, but it went forward in 1st, and went backwards in R).
Has anyone dealt with this before? Any idea what might be causing it? I've ruled out the transmission job, as well as starter/flywheel clearance so far. I'd just like an idea as to what I should be looking for before I go dropping the tranny again.

Got a recommendation to reseat the input shaft, so that's going to be the first thing on my list when the weather isn't crap. If anyone has any other ideas, I'd like to hear them.
did you test the clutch disk on the input shaft to make sure correct size? Jack the front of the car and listen to where the sound is at... Use a mechanic scope, Does it do it even when your not in gear?
Makes the same noise in all gears, clutch engaged and disengaged. I didn't test fit it because the part numbers were correct, but I can do that while the transmission is off the car. The noise isn't something I need a scope to find - I'd bet I couldn't hear my BOV over it if I tried. That's what's made it hard to pin down.
Bringing this thread back from the dead, since I fixed the problem. The comp clutch pressure plate is a hair larger than oem, which causes it to grind on a 8mm hex key plug inside the bell housing. Take that plug out, remove the copper washer behind it, replace plug with hondabond, and everything clears.
