Default Finally got her tuned...

Hey all,

I have not posted in a long time as I have been busy with other tasks. I finally had the time to get the ITR tuned. I spent yesterday at Church Automotive having my 2000 ITR w/ JRSC tuned. We installed RC 440 injectors, 68mm TB, walbro high flo fuel pump, S300 on P28, and CRV pulley.

I was disappointed in the numbers, but I was told it was due to my piping, which is a spoon header, 2.25 test pipe, and mugen exhaust. According to the tuner, he claimed I would gain about 30-40hp more if I had 3inch piping, maybe I will consider it down the line.

Anyways the final numbers was 236hp at 8210rpm and 180lbft at 5559rpm. This is with 8.5lbs of boost.

Regardless of the low numbers I am very impressed with how the car reacts now. She is smooth all the way through, there is no bogging, no lag, no rough idle. I wish I would have done a tune a lot earlier. Now I am eager to tun my accord.

I will post my dyno soon as I get a chance to scan them in. Now all I want to do is drive her .

Those #'s aren't too bad but I know you were expecting more. Try to locate a Kamikaze Header at least. Trust me they make a difference. As far as the rest of the piping I can vouch for my old 2.5" N1 That made 260/175 on 9-10 psi. The one thing I hate about making a a SC'd car flow better in the exhaust is though it works it's so freaking loud! I can't imagine what it would sound like using 3" piping at WOT.

One thing is with your current set up if you change out to a larger diameter pipe you might make a bit more power but I can almost guarantee you will notice a drop in boost pressure being it's flowing better. My suggestion,.....Go ahead and change out another pulley to increase boost just a bit more before a re-tune. GL.

sounds pretty low for church's dyno...usually their dyno reads 20hp low...so if your motor was making 216whp on a dynojet i would say something is wrong

Not bad, when mine was s/c i made only 240whp. same problem with mine is that the exhaust was to restrictive.

I drove it around this past weekend and I loved the car. I love pulling on the freeway in 5th gear, its very smooth compared to how it used to be. The tune has to be the best mod I have ever done.

Yea the restrictive issue is something I am willing to live with because I do not and cannot have a load car anymore. Rather have less power and have it be enjoyable then to have it be load and annoying.

A Kami header, 2.5" piping all the way back and a full size muffler would do you well and not be brashly loud. Check this out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZOTnksyVwNA I love the sound of this system. Of course it will be a bit louder than an N/A application but still very smooth sound.

That really is a pretty nice sounding exhaust. And it doesn't have a 12" tip. I like it...

Ive really been thinking about a nice JRSC setup on my R as well. Its not huge power gains like turbo, but the R doesn't need a whole hell of a lot IMO. The SC would make for a nice torque increase when you need it. I had a supercharged (JRSC) 93 Civic EX and while it wasn't a land rocket (15.0 in the 1/4) it was fun as heck to drive around. I think the R with a nicely tuned JRSC setup would easily cut 13's while still being reliable.

I will listen to it once I get home.

My only issue right now is due to the jumper harness my RPM gauge doesnt work.

I'd hope to hell it would easily run 13's because you can do that on street tires and without even opening the valve cover or removing the intake manifold with an ITR. If I were making even 220WHP on a dynojet and couldn't run at least a 12.99 second 1/4 mile I would retire from ever racing because that would be pathetic lol. I did a 14.5 holding back on the launch and 2nd gear shift because of wheel hop and I was only making 173WHP.

What do you have done to your R? I ran 14.6 with only a comptech icebox and a blistering 2.3 60 foot due to some crappy tires. I got the tires under control now. I don't want a fart cannon so I was kinda thinking of keeping the exhaust OEM... maybe a hytech replica. The JRSC is a tempting route though...

If you want to go fast, you can't do it on a stock exhaust. I have a Comptech Icebox intake and full Spoon N1 exhaust on the R.

Sorry to beat this in the dirt but if you're going to get the JRSC use a Kamikaze header! You'd be surprised the difference I felt swapping it out from a DC Sports header 4-1 w/ the 2.5" collector. When I pulled the SC off my R a friend got my Kami header for his EM1 SI that already had a SC on it. He had the same DC header and after the swap was amazed at how much better the car drove even at part throttle.

I know your car is s/c, but check out the all motor section because they have a thread open "how to make a 3 in. exhaust quietish" or something like that.

I really need to stop BS'ing and pull my Kamikazie header out of the Storage unit and sell it already.

Been so long and I've been out of the SC scene, is the Kami header available new anymore?

Thanks guys, I will get the dyno sheet up after I get it scanned in.

Could someone please assist with with the RPM gauge not working because of the OBD1 to OBD2 jumper harness.

you can replace the RPM sensor in your Distributor.
or get a OBD2 distributor.

I'm not really sure. There website is up and looks current but I have not heard of anyone ordering from them. They make a million options and have different based on the Si, GSR, Type R which is kinda strange?

I believe its the repinning of the Jumper harness but I cant seem to find the exact information. Its the jumper harness not the distributor. Thanks though
