Has NGK ever let anyone down? Go get some NGK Iridium plugs I'd say either 7 or 8 heat range. I'd be surprised if they didn't fire with only 14:1 compression.

Ngk Bkr7es or Bcpr7es, they good for around 400whp on boosted motors with high dynamic compression and the longer burn characteristics of boosted setups.

The heat range should be good enough for 14:1, check the colouring and overall plug condition for that.

However, if you experience any spark blow out, gradually close the plug gaps until it stops, +-0.1mm at a time

This is completely false! I've tuned motor that like NGK 8's making 200 n/a horsepower and around 12:1 compression. ALot of different thing come into play. For the op setup I would start with an ngk 8 or 9 and go with what the plug is telling you. You have to interput what the engine is telling you, for example: Is the plug fouled from being too cold, but a/f is in check, or clean as a wistle with a super rich a/f.(too hott)

As this is SUCH a high compression setup i'd say either 8 or 9 should do it. I'd start with 8 and check them and move upto 9 if needed. I'd go for an NGK plug over any others.

Edit: i agree with above, you can't go off power rating what so ever.

im with rich on this, start with an ngk8,

do a few pulls and as ALL MOTOR said read the plugs.

the heat colouring should be around halfway down the ground strap!

Thread color, fuel ring and strap will all tell you if you are at the correct heat range, you may pm me and i can give you what to look for.

I like the R5671A series ( V-power racing, non resistor plug) You can give them a shot if you want. The 8 heat range is R5671A8 and 9 is R5671A9. Other than them the iridiums should work fine.

I wouldn't go as far as to say its completely false, as I have seen this from experience, 13.6cr with well over 200whp..

But I hear exactly what you saying about other variables that affect this as well.

At the end of the day, give the motor what it wants, and each is different, even if the 7 range resistor plugs worked fine for the example I mentioned. I don't know if this might have been the difference, b20vtec (less piston dwell at tdc), conservative ign timing, cams and cam gear settings that stablized dynamic cr and +-5500ft above sea level.

It might not be an ideal back to back comparison for others, especially for different types of fuel and tune, but it worked fine.

Like I have mentioned, checked the plugs, you have to anyway.

8 or 9 would be super safe..
