help identifying my engine
hi all,
not sure if this is a cardinal sin or not, but I do not know what engine I have in my car. I bought it private sale, post-swap. I was told is was a b16 out of a 90 civic si. so far, I thought this was the right one. each time i went to get parts from a store, '90 civic si' was what I would tell them, and I would receive the right part. now is the first time there's been a mismatch.
I wanted to replace some seals since I have oil on my spark plugs, keeping them from firing. this is the injector gasket I received:

while this is what it looks like under the head cap:

(if you can't see, the problem is that the new gasket is entirely flat, while I need one that accommodates DOHC)
I've searched many times to find the model number of my engine on the block itself, so far I've found nothing. I even found 'f22b' on my roommate's accord, so I think I know what it should look like. only info I can find is on the cover, and it's not specific:

thanks everyone for your help, and please let me know what else you need to ID this engine.

Look by where the trans meets to the block there should be a stamp on it like an engravment saying what motor it is. from what I can see the distributor plugs look like they are obd0 ones. If the guy that had the car before you told you that it is a b16 then its prob from a jdm ef9. just go to the parts store and tell them you have a 99 si and you need a valve cover gasket set.
Idk where your from, but american 90 si'.s came with a d16a6. So if your ordering parts for a 90 si thats the engine your getting parts for. Like he said 99 si parts will work, but only if it is really a b16. The engine code should be in the same place as your friends accord. Try typing "b16 engine code location" on google images.
thanks for the quick replies, I'm truly enjoying this place. answers within the day and I can continue to fix my car. I did google before for the engine code, but somehow the way I was wording it, results kept coming up as small engine motors. thanks jvillanti, your search phrase brought up this: http://www.hondashowoff.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=12365
to lead me to find this (below sooo much dirt): http://oi39.tinypic.com/2myra79.jpg
so, b16a. I figured the previous owner wasn't too sure of what he was saying. he and his buddy chopped up the front T of the frame to fit their custom, spotty-welded straight pipe, which they joined all at once under the block, decreasing clearance by 2+"...anyway
thanks again
