rotors after caliper install fail
(replaced caliper rotor and pads)i put on my drivers side front caliper on my 95 eg a little wrong and when i went to seat my brake pads it was dragging on the rotor or something and now my rotor has like a little groove burned into it? or like a scratch maybe ill take a pic. but anyways after i figured out how to fix it it seems fine now but i wonder if the groove in the rotor will be a problem in the long run for noise or braking performance thanks
as long as it's not really deep (enough to compromise the rotor) or you're not trying to squeeze every last bit of braking performance out of the car... you'll likely never notice.
I may be very slightly noisier, depending on the angle of of the gouge compared to the brake pad.

I once grooved a rotor with a ball joint lock pin. At first I thought it was unsafe where I should replace it but I figured I'd test my luck. It made some noise for a couple months. Once it stopped I checked the rotor and the groove was gone lol. I guess that's when you know you have aggressive pads!
Wont really do damage over the long haul, but if you're worried about it, just take the rotor to an auto parts store, let them shave it for you. They might tell you if it's bad enough to replace, but a rotor for your car shouldn't cost more than $20-30. I pay $21 for mine at Oreillys for a 97 honda civic.
