Default bought a 96 Accord

Hey guys just getting back to Honda scene. Anyway, I got a 96 ex accord and its really clean however there are some issues, maybe you guys can point me in the right direction. First, my heater won't work, it blows out cold air, I believe the AC works cause when I gutter the AC button it seems like colder air comes .. Also I believe I have a short, the fuse for the horn and brakes is the same, my brake lights were out and I noticed the fuse was out, I pressed the horn and it blew the new fuse. Abby suggestions at least with the heater...someone told me it might be the thermostat or some clutch behind the dash

is the passenger side carpet wet? Could possibly be the heater core. From what I know, it was the opposite. Air is hot coming out of the vents. Good luck though.

what side is the oil dripping? I had a pesky oil drip on the passenger side and it turned out to be a bad vtec solenoid gasket.

For the heat. Can you check a few things.
1) Coolant is full and no trapped air
2) When you move the **** from hot to cold is the cable at the heater control valve moving?
3) If moving, is the "heater core" side of the hose the same temp as the inlet to the valve...yes the inside/lever of the valve can break from the inside.....not alowing the coolant to flow.

Oil Leak: a little more info on "the front". Then it is trans fluid or is it engine oil? Can you narrow down "front" as well....drivers/pass/center.

Make sure the heater core is hooked up to. IDK about the climate in Texas, but if it's anything like AZ a lot of times when the heater core springs a leak people just loop the hoses and forget about it.

Your oil leak is probly the rear main seal if it's coming from the transmission. See how bad it leaks and then you might be better off just topping off the oil from time to time.

As for the oil leak I would say its directly under the motor dead center is where the oil is on the floor

Can you post a picture of the leak itself? It could be in any number of locations. I thought my tranny was leaking, but I took a closer look and the leak was from the vtec solenoid. The drops fell near the tranny and engine. If it's on the back side of the engine, it could be your oil filter switch. I think that's what it's called. The seal behind the threaded tip for the oil filter.

Heater control valve: right/pass side..ish of the firewall. You should see two coolant hoses (inlet/outlet)....one will have a valve with a cable to it.

I'm dealing with this same oil leak on my 98 ex. I pulled the valve cover and distributor which were both fine and it was the vtec solenoid gasket (spool valve filter assy.) 3 small bolts which are a pain to get a wrench on to remove. I hacksawed off a 1/4 inch off a 10mm quarter inch drive socket, this gave me enough room to get on the bolts. Also with the dizzy removed it gives more access to work.

Make sure your heater control valve isn't stuck close; no coolant flow through the heater core. It's located behind the transmission side, so in front of the passenger side wall. There's a heater hose hooked up to the heater valve from the engine head.

OK So sorry about the no pics. went and purchased mtf and Lucas transmission treatment. took the passenger tire off and found the filler plug. When i opened it tons of fluid poored out. The leak is comin from the direct center of the car, in line with filler plug about 5 inch away directly towards the center. I never added the treatment but went for a drive and realized the shifts were more smooth, wierd. I also found out my radiator is cracked....if this is shitty, poorly written im sorry im on my phone and the keyboard sucks and plus my wife is yelling at me lol

Once the rad is fixed, for the heat, if it is still not working the same applies....and I think these three cover everyone elses questions/suggestions on the heat issue.....except chikin, is the inlet side gets hot, check the outlet to be sure you have flow thru the core.

The oil leak is sounding more like the oil pres switch, as someone suggested, but the decription is not clear to me....but I'm only on my first cup of coffee.

Update:

So i replaced the radiator and thermostat, but still my heater is blowing. My friend who works on hondas was looking my car over and checked that cable you were talking about that switches the heat and noticed it wasnt moving, he tried moving it from under the hood but still no hot air, he believes its disconnected behond the dash
