Default Autometer A/F Ratio Gauge (the light show)

Could these be trusted AT ALL? I mean in drastic conditions (ie. just idling in lean)?

I think so, after I installed my cams my car idled like a complete bag, and sometimes it didn't idle at all.

My AF gauge shot right to lean, so I don't know how or why, but I was running lean.

I wouldn't say they are acurate because they aren't, but I still think they are useful. I'm planning on using my safc to monitor AF voltage since it will give me a more acurate reading.

HTH,
Adam

I believe they are only as accurate as the the signal it is getting from your O2 sensor (Which can be inaccurate @ times). Either get a EGT gauge or a Greddy A/F gauage (both kinda pricey) but I belive these are the 2 most effecient ways to monitor your car's A/F.

Forget that expensive aftermarket stuff. I just ordered an O2 sensor from a 92 - 95 Civic VX, believe it or not its a very reliable wideband O2 sensor. Then I bought a DIY WideBand Controller (you have to have this) and display unit or I may just plug it into the autometer too. This way I get the light show but it will be accurate.

I have the autometer A/F gauge already. I understand the first part, but whats this about a DIY WideBand Controller?

The Autometer guage isnt a sophisticated piece of equipment. Its more of a safety precaution under WOT, where it will display your ration. You see those bars start dropping, you pull over and turn off the car immediately. That's all.

And I guess it could be used for some crude street tuning in the absence of a wideband, but not for serious tuning purposes.

By expensive aftermarket wideband 02 sensors I mean Greddy and the like.
