Need an engine on 1979 Honda Prelude
I have an original 1979 Prelude given to me by my uncle and after 95k miles the 1st cylinder piston rings broke according to the mechanic.
Does anyone know what kind of engine I could put in without doing too much work like replacing the motor mounts etc. etc. ????
Does anyone know of a company that has engines in stock for older vintage hondas?

Unfortunately due to there being no support from any companies on these cars, little options exist for dropping another engine in. A CVCC engine from a 1st gen civic can be dropped in with some minor modification while the Honda City ER can be worked to fit also.
Your engine is an EK1 1.8l and is common in the 1st gen accords and preludes. There is a few sets of pistons either STD or .25 oversize on ebay for sale (a whole set) for about $50-60, and I think they include rings. These engines are extremely simple to work on so it'd be as easy as working on a d-series engine.
Just my 2 cents, replace the headgasket while your at it if you choose to replace the piston. Cylinder 1 could of had a blown headgasket which lead to a major cylinder leak.

I appreciate the time you put in to respond.
If I was to buy a set of pistons I would need to get the block sleeved for the over bore of the pistons correct?

They have about 20 engines listed here: http://www.car-part.com/ Costs about $100 to ship. Maybe with 2 engines you'll have enough parts to make 1 run.
Not all the parts are dis-continued. OEM rings for $30 here: http://www.hondapartscheap.com/index...NNECTING%20ROD (that's one set, one set= one piston)
