questions about 88-89 and 90-91 guage cluster

Default questions about 88-89 and 90-91 guage cluster

ok i have a beat 89 si cluster w/ a broken tach, gas, and temp guages
i also have a perfect 91 si cluster
and my stock 88 DX cluster

i know i can put my speedo in the 89 si cluster, and prolly the 91 si tach, but i was just wondering if i could use the gas and temp guages from the 91 cluster to the 89?

its kinda hard too read i know but i was just courious if it could be done b4 i tried it cause i dont wanna break the 91 si cluster if i can sell it still

the tachs are different teh way the screws go in are diff if u have ever take in apart teh screws are also part of teh circutry and so the other tach wont work try and find a 88-89 cluster teh 90-91 wont work ive tried teh 88 and 89 tachs are even different i tried putting a 88 tach in a 89 cluster and it was different

cause putting a 90-91 cluster in a 88-89 requires rewiring

The wiring is not complicated at all try this site http://www.geocities.com/twisted91ci...ap_diagram.htm I think there are only like two wires you have to switch. they are already there just need to be moved to the other plug. Probably would be easier than changing the guages from cluster to cluster

you should be able to swap your old speedometer into the 91 si cluster if you decide to use it. you just use your old speedometer/odometer mechanism with the 91 si speedometer face. remove the needle carefully along with the two tiny screws in the middle of the face. wiring the 91 si cluster into your 89 si will be easy. you will also need the cluster cover off of a 90-91 si, let me know if you need one

well the 90-91 has a 3rd connector that has 3 or 4 pins that goes in the middle of the cluster. does this go anywhere on the 88-89 cluster?
