Default 97 Civic tire fit question

I am replacing my 205/55 15 Nitto Neogens but haven't been able to find a replacement in the same tire size. I am concerned that 205/65 15 will rub. My vehicle is a completely stock 97 Civic with 2000 si alloy 15s. If those tires aren't going to work, what is the max tire size I can use without alteration? Will I need to step back down to a 195 width to increase diameter? Any info that will relieve my anxiety of buying the larger tires will be appreciated. Thanks

Where are you looking? Found 140 different matches for this tire size on Ebay alone.

Discounttiredirect.com and tirerack.com mostly. I shop there so I can read reviews and comments. I should say I haven't found many tires that size that I like. The Neogens I have perform as long as there is no snow or ice, I'd like a true all season tire. Also looking for something with better treadlife. The Hankook Optimo H727 looks like an inexpensive option but now I am trying to find out which tire size is right for me.

The Yokohama S-Drives are more than a suitable replacement. I run these. Direzzas have been reported to be a capable tire.

Nice. I believe I read an article early on in my search that gave negative reviews for Direzzas but I like the S-Drives. What size do you use? Are you suggesting I give up the search for a different tire size all together and get whatever I can in the 205/55 15?

I run 16s.
You can get the S-Drives in that size.

What model Direzza are you referring to? The DZ101's and D1 Star Spec's are both very good performing tires. I've had both.

We recommend 205/50R15 for your model year to keep the overall tire diameter close to stock (23" overall), the year 2000 Civic used 195/55R15 as OE, so the 205/50R15 would be fine on that car as well.

DZ101s. The Z1s are out of my price range for the moment.

I've still got my Z101's. They're fantastic tires, in my personal opinion.

Go to treadepot.com , they have a bunch of different tires in plenty of sizes. That's where I buy my tires, usually get them cheaper than anywhere else.
