Default Can I make my 102 hp 1.5 get the power of the 1.8 and 2.0?

Okay I have a 95 civic with a D15B7 a 16 valve SOHC engine and it's slow. I am running circle track with mid to high RPM's. My question is can i make my 102 hp 1.5 get the power of the 1.8's and 2.0s? Or would it be cheaper just to get a 1.8 or 2.0? Money IS the issure as it is with all of us. I want the cheapest way!!! Thanks for the input.

Turbo is the only solution for that little engine.

now there has to be a way to get some power out of this guy.....can i swap to a vtech head? Would that do anything? I can get the ecu and other odds and ends to do it. I just need this to look stock and they came with vtechs so can i use that?

Swap in a D16Z6 (SOHC VTEC). A "mini me" (non-VTEC block with a VTEC head) would be the next best thing.

So if forced induction isn't allowed, what else isn't allowed motor wise?

Would a B series swap be legal for your racing league?

depending on your budget, you could get an LS b18b or a b16 for around 12-1500.
but you could also use that money to build your little sohc up with higher comp. piston, head work, a y8 IM to flow better than your Y7, a nice good header and exhaust, and cams.

And you will get great mid-high range power from the D16Z6.

Just swap it. A head swap gets you pretty much nothing and building the engine N/A to make the power you are looking for can get expensive, especially when you start get past the 150hp mark.

Swap the engine. End of story.

well visually it needs to look "stock" but internals i can do whatever, this is a "low budget" class so nobody will be pulling head in tech. I did find a b16 at the salvage yard. How labor intensive it that? Is it the harness, ecu, tranny and all or can i just swap the engine?

a b16 will be night and day difference from your d15, i used to have a single cam coupe and got a stock b16a2 swapped ek hatch and it was night and day difference. plus the b16 is much better for mid to high rpms compared to the b18 ls. you should ditch the d15 and swap a b16 if your money tight, or if your really money tight find a cheap ls swap wich will still be faster than the sohc then swap a b16 head on it in the future. b series have ALOT more potential to make power all motor esepecialy turboed

Stock mounts, stock axles, stock ECU from the teg can all be used, it's a direct bolt in is swap, what's not to look stock?

Well yes, obviously. But a B-series in a '92 - '00 Civic looks like it belongs there, it doesn't look like someone shoehorned something in there that wasn't meant to be there.

^^^^^And that's what i was getting at. I can't have it look like it's out of another car. It needs to look stock. As far as the engine it will be a stock b series money isn't really the issue right now i just need it to loook like it came with the car.

i dont understand why it needs to "look stock" if you are allowed to build a d-series?

the rules of my track state..."stock engine and trans NO modifacations" so that being said. It needs to "look stock" basically i'm cheating to beat the other guys that cheat out there. And i don't want to get caught. I wanna run this car but i don't want a 1.5....it's SLOW!!!! So i'm trying to get somthing that looks like it belongs in the car.

why spend all the $$ from a 1.5l to a 1.6l? The B16 is garbage unless its boosted.. same goes for the d15, and d16. If your going to spend 3 grand on a swap, better make it a 1.8 or 2.0. no replacement for displacement!

You can run a nitrous system and have it installed stealth. If your wanting more power from a D15, get your car on a diet. strip as much as u can and make it a rolling chassis with a seat. Im sure you could lose a couple pounds yourself.

Could do a ls vtec and make it look stock.. Unless.the tech knows honda then your in trouble

Hate to say it but you might need to get a teg or delsol or accord or something with more stock power
