Icon3 96-00 Civic Security Control Main Unit - Looking for installation instructions

Trying to see if this Honda factory security system works with EK hatachbacks. It has an option for "CX" and "DX" Civics which could only mean hatchbacks... Was wondering if hatachbacks came pre-wired to have this added or what? I have a '96 Civic DX hatchback. P/N for the security control main unit is 08E51-S01-1M0-F2. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

CX would be hatch only. DX would be coupe/hatch/sedan.

It's likely that the markings mean exactly what trims are available. So, yes, hatches too. But it's not just for hatches.

H and A doesn't have instructions for the '96-'98 security system (they only have the '99-'00 ones, but your local Honda dealership can print them out for you free of charge.

Remember it's not an awesome security system.

Keyless and a panic button is what all the EXes and Si coupes had stock. I had it in my '97 and '98. This is something else on top of that.

So those green plugs should be on my hatch, correct? I just plug those into this, right? And I'm guessing I gotta buy the remote too and program it to this.

Hmmm... Having second guesses. I think the green plugs might be keyless only models so there might be some sub-harness you need.

When you print the instructions, it will tell you where the plugs are, but I think the system needs more stuff, like relays and and few things I am forgetting.

This is more than keyless it has starter disable and door and trunk alarms.

If you look at the 99-00 instructions they'll give you an approximate idea of how much more will come with the full set up. This is just the brain basically.

cool i always wonder what that hole in the radio was for. Wouldn't you at least need a ex/si floor harness and door harness(power locks) for the keyless entry ? before i installed the pw/pl/pm in my hatch the only wire's that went into the door were the speaker wire's and on 96-98 the door lock module is in the drivers door

Good question, I guess when you set it for dx,cx, you only get the alarm function, so in essence you will still have to lock the doors manually.

Not sure if it helps, but here's a link to instructions for installing the security unit in the 98 Civic HX or EX coupe:

http://ww2.justanswer.com/uploads/hy...ity_system.pdf

In post #3, NOFX posted similar installation instructions for the 00 Civic LX, EX, or VP sedan.

If anyone has links to OEM security system installation instructions for any other Civic years and/or trims, please post them in this thread. If many links are posted, I'll add this thread to the FAQs sticky.

Yes, for 96-98 Civics, the stock security system ties into the stock keyless system in the stereo:

Where can you get a 6 pin relay? I don't know if I could just grab one at the junkyard off another honda or acura. Please let me know. I want to add this unit.
