So i bought a 98 civic dx that the previous owner said had a 98 integra rear disc brake swap which is fine but the right side rear brake hangs up and has been since i bought it about 2 months ago....but now the pads are worn out with only a few thousand miles on them...so my question is could the parking brake be adjusted wrong so that it drags causeing excessive pad wear? i dont know alot about honda's or their brake systems. i did spray som pb blaster on the slide pins and that seemed to reduce it some but still seems like its hanging up. i am picking up pads from Autozone tonight unless i can find them elsewhere cheaper. there is no real adjustment for the parking brake other than at the handle. i bet you have a stuck cable.

 

Use brake slide lub or I like to use anti-seize on the brake slides. You could also have a stuck caliper.

 

Don't use anti-seize on the slide pins, it turns to cement after a while. Use synthetic brake lube and nothing else.

Op the slide pins or caliper piston are probably seized.

 

Been using anti seize on brake slides for years and never had an issue. It only dries out like that when under heat like O2 sensors and exhaust bolts where it is commonly used. Mechanics trade secret for good functioning brake slides. Synthetic silicon lube is also a good choice as I said.

 

I have, and I'm not the only one. I had one set seize so bad it literally required a 6lb sledge, an air chisel and torch to free up.

Brakes get hot. I've seen this stuff cause issues way to many times to use it again for slide pins.
