on my throttle body there is a little copper like pipe that comes out from the top of it. it broke off on mine and im trying to figure out what its for and if i need it or not. any info would be helpful

 

I believe that goes to the charcoal canister. You do not need it, but I would suggest plugging the hole somehow to prevent a vacuum leak.

Not having emissions stuff won't hurt the motor, but for the environment and for the sake of the laws, you "should" have it, especially if you live in Chicago or California or anywhere that does emissions testing.
