2012 Civic SI "rev hang" petition up.
I am a regular contributor to 9thgencivic. New member of Honda-tech.
I have posted a link on 9thgencivic to a petition to Honda.
Link is here: http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/h...2012-civic-si/
The petition asks Honda to provide a remedy to eliminate or reduce "rev hang" in the 2.4l Civic SI engine. As some of you are aware, the engine takes half a second, after depressing the clutch before the engine revs go down. This interferes with normal shifting.

The 2012 Si is way worse than the 06 to 11.
To keep the rev hang to a minimum you have to snap shift just to keep ahead of it, but a day of snap shifting isn't my idea of having a good time driving.
I'm seriously thinking this civic is gone very soon for me, I'm sure I can find something else I like to drive.

I personally couldnt stand the rev hang in my 2011 si, if the 2012 is significantly worse i'd drive it into a tree. I drove a 2012 si but just putted around the block so didnt notice it. Then there was the crz i drove...worst manual trans car i've ever driven
The rev hang on the 2006 to 2011 cars is nothing compared to the 2012.
I will tell you if I recognized the rev hang on the initial test drive, I would have refused the car.
It is disgusting to drive, as it is I haven't touched it, other than putting the new license sticker on the plate, in over a month.
The last time I looked on ebay there were 2 low mile Si coups for sale, I think mine may join them in the spring.

I looked nothing said about the 2012, they have released the flash pro for the crz so maybe it will be a long wait.
I'm going to contact my local hondata dealer and ask.

I just put mine up for sale locally on CL.
I haven't driven it lately and after driving it for 2 days I decided it should belong to someone else.
Is anyone is interested? 3K miles on a no beat Si.

Gf test drove a dsg tdi golf, **** was surprisingly quick, really quite inside, and the dsg tranny shifts extremely fast and smooth, though I'd get a 6 speed manual myself
I actually have a '12 Si for review on my website (see link in the sig). I noticed this rev deal, but didn't really think anything of it. Interesting.
A guy stopped by with a VW sedan when I had my truck up for sale, we got talking about his VW diesel automatic and he commented on how quick it was.
I'm with you on the 6 speed, I don't care how many speeds they put in an automatic, it is still an automatic.
I bought a new corvette in 08 with a 6 speed auto, I didn't have it very long when I got discussed with it doing what automatics do, shifting when you don't want to shift and not shifting when you do want to.
I'm quite pleased with it lately, it has been sitting in the garage for the past few months, I doesn't bother me when I don't have to drive it.
Don't mean to be harsh or condescending, but find something better to do. No one at Honda will listen to you (rightfully so), and this is borderline childish. It does not benefit you or your car to shift in less than 0.5s (unless you are drag racing), if you shift smoothly and properly this "rev hang" is perfect. Even during track situations its a good check to keep yourself from shifting too quickly.
