Default trans problem

Ive got a 97 accord and after it sets a few hours and you put it in gear it takes a min for it to go in and slips if i let it warm up with the e brake on and in gear then get in it it will go but still slips a bit do i need to rebuild it

Could be your torque converter or your fly wheel.

it feels like the converter thats what i figured it was how much does one usually run would ya just do the converter or what

If the TC is damaged enough to not work there could be metal shavings pumped throughout the transmission. If that's the case it's not really worth trying to replace one component as the rest of the transmission would be contaminated with metal shavings.

Me, the trans on the 94-97 are pretty good......so I have to ask
1) Are you checking the fluid level the proper way?
2) When was the last fluid change and what fluid was used?

yea check it while it is running i havent changed it because it hasnt been changed since my wife had the car when she was young that she can remember if it was changed or not. didnt wanna chance it slipping with the new fluid

While running or within a minute of shut off.

Afraid of it slipping, "thats what it is doing"?

Spend the money and have it rebuilt then....me, I'd change the fluid (DW or Z Honda Fluid only) two or three times and see what I got from there.....cost ~$75 for the fluid and a bit of time over a few days.
