Default hole through exhaust manifold stud port

Took my gsr head to a local shop to remove a stripped exhaust stud out and notice today that there is a hole where the shop took my stud out. I can see pretty much the inside of my head. Talk with the shop and they said that the hole was already there. Is there anyway I can weld the hole and re tap it? Any ideas? Will this do any damage to my motor? Thanks

Engine oil is coming out of the opening. It's the exhaust stud port by the passenger side.

umm thats not normal. did they drill in too deep? you could try putting a stud in and see if it seals it

This happens way too much, who worked on it at the machine shop? Probably a first year apprentice. Make them fix it! It was not there already that's retarded.

Yes they must of drilled the hole to deep to where I can see right through the head. I'll take a picture ignite once I take off my turbo manifold. I just inserted a bolt in the stud port for now and it still leak but not as much. The hole is pretty ****ed up to where I can see the block surface. Is there some kind of oil port on the passenger cylinder head? will this be the problem my engine is idling rough do to lack of compression? Should I just weld the hole and re tap it?

The machinist at the shop said that the hole was already there and nothing he can do about items told me I should be glad the stud was out.

Is it a used head? Sounds like the machine shop f'd up unless you bought one with hidden problems.

If the oil isn't a feed passage, you may want to try Hondabonding the threads.

I wouldn't worry about it, just use some good sealant around the threads.

The standard Mitsi Evo's have all the bottom studs onto the exhaust manifold through an oil gallery.

I would have the shop fix it, it is there f^&k up anyways and they just are not owning up to it. I had a head destroyed by a machine shop, it was a real nightmare to deal with them.
