MAJOR. OIL. LEAK.
94 prelude with manual h22a1.
changed the oil the other day and when i was done a giant puddle of oil was underneath the car. theres a leak somewhere on the backside of the engine and whenever you fill the oil up to a certain point then the oil starts to leak out. it drips onto the front left axels boot thats closest to the tranny.
theres a bolt on the backside of the engine that looks like it takes a allen wrench. i believe the drip is right above that.
it drips out fast too, and then it will stop when it reaches a certain level.
does anyone know what this could be?
supposedly the guy i got the prelude from did a compression test on the engine and it was 180 on all four cylinders.
it has 157k miles on it.

compresssion sounds good, oil leak could be all sorts of things, not really sure what the back of the h22 looks like cause i haven't screwed around with my buddies 94 in a long time but sounds like it could be a main seal if its leaking that much that fast all at once - i could be wrong but i would suggest poppin the hood cleaning up a bunch of sh#$ with a rag and doing it again to pinpoint where its coming from exactly then snap a well lit shot of it
yea the best way to explain it without pics is its on the backside of the engine and the leak is above the oil filter and below the headgasket and it drips right onto the left axel boot and on the front left axel's side
When you replaced the oil filter, did you make sure that the O ring came off with the old filter and you dont have a double ring on there? also, did you damage the oil pressure sensor?

thats the general area of where it is leaking. this is an h23 engine picture i found online but to give u guys a better idea its leaking above the oil filter and to the left of it. and its below the headgasket.

If it's where you say it is then it's the o-ring for the rear balance gear case on the oil pump. Solution, timing belt, balance belt, water pump, both cam seals, from balance seal, crank seal and that o-ring, pretty much everything behind those covers should be changed any time you have to take them off.
You still need to clean the engine, run it for a minute then take a pic of where it's coming from so that all this guessing can stop cause it isn't going to help fix your problem.

If it seems like its coming from the oil filter area, Sounds like the oil cooler o-ring. It's a $3 oring from the dealer. And ud have to remove the oil filter, then use a 30mm socket to undo the big thru bolt that holds the cooler to the block (the big thru bolt is what the oil filter screws onto)
