1994 prelude h22a1. was throwing a CEL a few days ago. but hasnt since, and ive been driving it aournd a lot. i recently put 17inch enkeis with low profile tires on. i know putting different tires on will affect the speedometer, is it the same with Tach?? cus either the tach is off or im in limp mode with no CEL. rev cut is 6500, no CEL

 

I know my h22 civic cuts off at 6500 if I'm in nutral or if I gun it with a cold motor. I'm 99% sure rpm has nothing to do with speed sensor/wheel size.

 

Tires/rims are not going to affect tach/rev limit. Do you know what code it was throwing when the cel was on? sounds like it is possibly not going into vtec.

 

Won't know anything until you pull the CEL. As soon as it comes up pull over and pull the CEL.

 

alright thanks for the replies. yea thats the thing it hasnt thrown a CEL ever since ive wanted to check it out lol. three days ago or so i changed the oil and oil filter and now it is engaging VTEC and reving past 7400.

the previous owner must have neglected it for the rev cut to come on just because the oil was that terrible, if thats what it was. im assuming so, it was pitchassblack
