35 is standard(I think 4300k bulbs), 55 is the upgrade, a lot of people have a hard time choosing 5000 or 6000k

Thanks for all the help. I'm getting a retrofit kit from The Retrofit Source, and they give you and option for a 35w or 55w ballasts. I want to get the same effect that the oem S2000 hids produce.

careful with 55watt. with oem bulbs (phillips, osram, etc), its not a big deal, but with aftermarket bulbs, they burn significantly hotter at 55w than stock 35w. the 55w ballast is cheap, but replacing the headlights bc you burned the chrome in the projector is gonna cost you some serious coin.
Id suggest just sticking to 35 watt. at 35w, the phillips and osram 4300K bulbs both put out about 3200lm of light x 2 (passenger and driver side) equals over 6000lm. if you need more than that to see at night, change your glasses, not your ballasts. The s2k already uses arguably the best HID lo beam projector on the market

35w. most halogen is above 55w but with most oem HIDs they are 35. You can however run a 55w ballast to a 35w OEM d2s, due to the phillips bulbs being such high quality
