Default 99 Civic DX DD Wheel/Tire

Hey guys,

Sorry if this post is out of place, I'm trying to see what wheels I can get to replace my 99 DX's steelies, I want them to be lighter than the steelies and not over priced, size doesn't matter, I want to keep stock size though (14"), possibly 15"s, or 16"s max. I'd like to spend around $250-$500, the less the better.

Again, this is for my daily driver, looking to cut down rolling resistance and get better MPGs, I don't really care if they look cool or not, it's all about efficiency.

Some wheels I've looked at, but I don't know exact weights, only they're recommended to steelies:

Insight wheels
Civic HX / VX wheels
GSR blades
LS meshies
and Tire Rack's 'Sport Edition D5' (Rather not pay $300 for rims and then need tires)

A link to an active directory of wheel weights is listed in the FAQ's. To be honest, the best bang for the buck in recent times, has been the Konig Eco1's. Flying Miata sells them for $400/set, and they weigh less than 11lbs for 15" wheels. That's remarkably light.

Thanks for the info, I've inquired to Flying Miata about a set of the Konig Eco1s, I've been trying to find something locally but it seems all the Honda guys are out west.

Finding stuff locally is always tricky. If you're good with searching skills, you should be able to hunt down a 4x100 set on craigslist, but its never a guarantee.

So far I've only found a set of HX wheels

http://greenville.craigslist.org/pts/2721172887.html

I offered the guy $250 to ship em here to me, tires look good, but worn, think its a good deal or too much for 4 HX wheels?

Also I'm assuming I can re-use my steelie's tires on the HX rims no problem, they're both 14x5.5 I believe, my tires might possibly be 14x5, would the half an inch be anything to worry about?

That's a fair enough price. As for your existing tires, you will probably be able to re-use them as long as your factory wheels are 14" steel wheels.

I picked these up to replace my steelies/hubcaps. They are 14x5.5 and you can put 195/60/14's on if you want. The best "summer" tire in that size is the Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec which I plan on getting in the spring. As for a really good cheap all season in the stock 185/65/14 size are the General Altimax HP which I am currently running. They arent the best looking, but they are light and def offer better ride quality over the steelies.

They came on the Del Sol's, and were an option on the Civic, and Integra.

Those are pretty nice, I'm really stuck on getting some HX wheels right now, if I got anything other than HXs I'd probly bump up to 15s as I've read a lot about 15s vs 16s and 15s seem the way to go

15's def are the way to go. I only got these cuz I couldn't stand hubcaps anymore. I'll dedicate these for winter, and pick up a set of 15's as well. Probably fat fives.
