Default Recommended Pistons

Howdy,

We have an EJ6 and I am about to do a mini-me swap. I have all the parts. I also grabbed a timing belt kit and water pump to do while I am in the neighborhood. I have ARP head studs ready to go in as well. We have 192k on the engine right now and it is using more oil than fuel and it doesn't leak oil...

We are looking to replace the pistons with something that has a little more ***** to it. I was recommended P29 pistons. I need this to run on 91 octane.

I would like your opinions.

Here is what we have for mods so far. AEM CAI, Skunk2 Catback, and OBX Headers.

No boost. Someday we will swap in a B series. Right now we are looking for a little more go if we are going to replace the pistons anyway.

The old D16A6 pistons should bump compression up. There are some new ones on eBay usually fairly cheap. Do a search for zeal autoworks d series compression calculator. it will show some idea of compression and such. You can't run just any piston, some will rise above the deck!

Some sort of oem cast piston is best. They're cheap and the higher silicon content means they expand very little, exactly what you want for a daily driver.
