im MayorMcCheese lol i own a modded 08 accord V6 6 speed

my buddy has a EP3 that needs a engine swap water got into the engine from a good rainstorm in NJ and engine is shot .. so he needs a new engine.. i kno very little of K20 and K24 engines but he wants to swap it what specific engine can just be direct swap out? does he need Kpro ?

hes not looking for a turbo car down the line just a practical car like he originally had before this rain storm

what are his options he can do and where can i get cheap engines?

 

the easiest swap is to stick with the same engine... so find a base model EP3 K20A3 engine. I get my engines from LKQ. You can find them on the web.


If he wants more power and high RPM go with a k20a2 or k20z1 from the RSX-S and you'll need kpro. If you want more torque for his little mini minivan then get a k24a2 and kpro. Either way if you go with one of these swaps or the several other options like a k20/k24 frank build sounds like you have a lot of homework to do.

 

Wow.. for once I disagree with Spaz.

I would swap in a K24A4/8 engine from an Accord. They can be found for the same price as the K20A3 engine. More torque. Do it.

Not sure where you are in NJ, but in the philly craigslist I recently saw a k20a3 going for $450. I did a search for "si" and found a partout thread.

 

he said "easiest" and from the sounds of his thread he hasn't researched at all... so I gave him an honest answer... easiest would be bolt and go stock for stock...

 

You can get the same engine for around $700-$800, any Accord engine will swap right in with a CRV side mount though you will need K pro to get the right AFR.

For power and a straight forward swap get a K20A2, you DONT need Kpro to swap that in but you will need the ECU for that engine.

 

If you want cheap, go with another a3
If you want a swap do want teg said or go with a k20a2 swap (won't need kpro)

 

just swap the k20a3 back in there. it would be the most cost effective swap i think.
