Sounds like a typical Y8 -- Spun rod bearing.

Spun a rod and getting piston slap. I bet if you check your oil it will be burnt and has metal in it. Time for a new motor.

Woah!

Sounds more like a valve train issue. Bent, burnt, stuck open valve.
Also sounds like piston slap and a slight spun bearing.

Definaely not a valve lash issue.

Sorry to brake the news again but its time to rebuild/new motor

dont blow it up..

theres alot of people needing Y8 parts for their builds.

find a donor engine and part out the rest.

Or rebuild it.

edit: after seeing the video, I dont know how you can drive around in that car. the interior is filthy!

or just rebuild the motor or sell it for parts.... your logic is retarded do that with a K-series at one point the D series will become rare because no one gives 2 craps about it now cause they're cheap but they will start dying off

^ by the time they start "dying off" nobody will want one anyway. If you have one, leave it alone and daily it, or boost it and when/if it goes drop in something better

I may be late but, I wanna prove a point to the OP. Here is my engine, I need a valve adjustment, hard to tell but I do need one. You can hear the injectors firing and I have no knock. Plus, it has well over 300K...unoffically lol.

Lol thanks for all the replys guys.

I know the motor needs replaced. I just made a quick video of it before i pulled it in the garage to pull it.

I found a replacement motor on Craigslist with a 2 month warranty that is going in there. I bought the car knocking, and am just putting in a motor so my gf has a good daily driver.

Im either going to partout the knocking y8 or keep it around and rebuild it with a z6 crank and oil pump.
